Crocodiles swallow stones.



This both aids their digestion and controls their buoyancy in the water. Crocodile teeth aren't designed for chewing. Therefore, crocodiles don't chew their food.
When they catch their prey, they swallow them whole. For larger prey that lives on land, they catch them and drag them underwater to drown them before swallowing them.
They then need to swallow stones to grind up the food in their stomachs. Some of this food bets barfed up again, for use as bait to attract more fish.
