China is digging a "ground scraper" – enormous structure built underground.

Developed by Shanghai Shimao Property Group, under the management of InterContinental Hotels Group, this underground hotel is expected to extend 19 stories into the bottom of an abandoned quarry, located in Tianmashan. Measuring 100 meters deep, 240 meters long, and 160wide, this pit has been abandoned since the year 2000, and recently construction begun on the high-end hotel, named InterContinental Shimao Shanghai Wonderland, at the foot of Tianma Mountain.
It's boasted to be 19 stories tall (or 19 stories deep?), containing 380 rooms, and an underwater restaurant.
