Cracking your knuckles does not actually hurt your bones or cause arthritis
Cracking your knuckles does not actually hurt your bones or cause arthritis. The sound you hear is just gas bubbles bursting.
Cracking your knuckles (or any of your joints) can have therapeutic benefits. When you crack one of your joints you are pulling the bones that are connected at the joint apart from each other. This process stimulates your tendons, relaxes your muscles, and loosens your joints. Chiropractors do this for spinal joints when your back is sore and stiff, but you can do this on your own for your knuckles, toes, knees, neck, etc.
Unfortunately, there can be too much of a good thing. Cracking your knuckles will never lead to arthritis (despite what your mom keeps telling you), but scientists have discovered that it can cause tissue damage in the affected joints. Knuckle-cracking pulls your finger bones apart which stretches your ligaments. Too much stretching of your ligaments will cause damage to your fingers akin to the arm injuries sustained by a baseball pitcher who throws too many pitches. In addition to making your hand really sore, this ligament damage can also result in reduced grip strength.
How does this work? Your joints, the places in your body where you can bend, are where your bones intersect and are held together by ligaments. These joints are surrounded by a liquid called synovial fluid. When you stretch your ligaments by pulling the bones apart to crack your knuckles a gas in the synovial fluid escapes and turns into a bubble. This process is called cavitation. Cavitation ends when the bubble eventually bursts, producing that popping sound we know and love. After that, your joints won't be able to crack for another 25-30 minutes while the gas gets reabsorbed into the synovial fluid.

14000 Years Old Baltic Sea 'UFO' Anomaly
The object or anomaly is as large as a jumbo 747 jet. This circular anomaly rests at a depth of 300 feet which makes it extremely hard to photograph with conventional equipment. Dennis Asberg and Peter Lindberg and their Ocean Explorer Team located this object in June of 2011. When the strange 200-foot-wide circular object at the bottom of the Baltic Sea was first spotted, some thought it might be a UFO that crashed into the waters between Sweden and Finland though no evidence has been found for this conclusion. Several experts have stated that it is most likely a natural geological formation rather than an "anomalous" object

Largest mollusks on Earth
These bottom-dwelling behemoths are the largest mollusks on Earth, capable of reaching 4 feet (1.2 meters) in length and weighing more than 500 pounds (227 kg). They live in the warm waters of the South Pacific and Indian Oceans.
Giant clams achieve their enormous proportions by consuming the sugars and proteins produced by the billions of algae that live in their tissues. In exchange, they offer the algae a safe home and regular access to sunlight for photosynthesis, basking by day below the water's surface with their fluted shells open and their multi-colored mantles exposed. They also use a siphon to draw in water to filter and consume passing plankton.
Giant clams have a wildly undeserved reputation as man-eaters, with South Pacific legends describing clams that lie in wait to trap unsuspecting swimmers or swallow them whole. No account of a human death by giant clam has ever been substantiated.

Motorcycle-loving man
A motorcycle-loving man's family has fulfilled his dying wish — to be buried astride his beloved Harley-Davidson encased in a see-through casket.
But it wasn't easy. The project required an extra-large cemetery plot to accommodate a Plexiglas casket for Billy Standley and his hulking custom-painted 1967 Electra Glide cruiser. Five embalmers worked to prepare his body with a metal back brace and straps to ensure he'll never lose his seat.

Mohandas Gandhi's letter to Adolf Hitler, 1939
India's figurehead for independence and non-violent protest pleads with the leader of Nazi Germany
23 July 1939
As tensions mounted in Europe following Germany’s occupation of Czechoslovakia, Mohandas Gandhi, the famously non-violent leader of the Indian independence movement, wrote a clear and concise plea for Hitler to avoid war, but it never reached its intended recipient because of an intervention by the British government. Just over a month later, the world looked on in horror as Germany invaded Poland.

Did you know Why do ears ring sometimes ?
Ringing of ears is also known as Tinnitus (Latin for ringing).Loud noises like music ,fireworks damages hair cells in the inner ear.The ends of these hair cells get broken due to high level of noise.
These hair cells are responsible for taking messages to the brain ,but once they are damaged they false signals to the brain causing ringing sound. These usually grow back in 24 hours.Tinnitus can also be caused by ear infections.

THE SILFRA RIFT - DIVE BETWEEN 2 CONTINENTS
Officially known as the Silfra Tectonic Fissure, this freshwater rift between continents is not only geologically intriguing, it also happens to stunningly beautiful.
The rift sits in the gap between the North American and Eurasian continental plates, where an imperfect seam allows explorers into the watery depth an opportunity to dive towards the center of the Earth. The clear waters of Þingvallavatn Lake in the Þingvellir National Park attract divers from around the world to experience the unique feeling of diving between worlds, where visibility is often as good as 300 feet between lava rock cliffs. Flights from Toronto to Reykjavik take explorers to this volcanic wonder daily, where they can dive in the luminous waters, adventure in customized off road vehicles, and enjoy the dramatic, arctic landscape of the rest of Iceland's Thingvellir National Park.

Gynandromorph Lobster
Half brown, half blue. Half male, half female.
This lobster is a gynandromorph, meaning one side is female (the blue side) and one is male (the brown side). The probability of this occurring is about 1 in 50 million, and is a result of a genetic mutation that has been seen most widespread in insects and birds. Because we depend so heavily on hormones, it is very doubtful that this type of "split down the middle" phenomenon could ever happen in humans.

SHAVARSH KARAPETYAN: A REAL LIFE HERO
Shavarsh Karapetyan is a retired Soviet-Armenian champion swimmer. He is an 11-time World Record holder, 17-time World Champion, 13-time European Champion and 7-time USSR Champion.
One cold morning on September 16th, 1976 he was doing his usual run along the dam in Erevan (Armenia), when a large trolleybus carrying 92 passengers lost control and flew off the road into the freezing water. During the impact, most of the passengers fell unconscious – the bus sank approximately 10 meters deep. Without a second of hesitation, Shavarsh leaped into the freezing water to rescue people.
Diving to the depth of 10 meters, Shavarsh used his feet to break the back window of the trolleybus. One by one, he saved 20 peoples’ lives (he actually pulled out more then 20, but not everyone made it). He spent nearly 20 minutes in the frigid water and accomplished 30 dives down to the wreck of the bus. His brother – Kamo Karapetyan – is also a swimmer, and took care of the injured people as Shavarsh brought them up to the surface.
Bystanders who watched Shavarsh bring people up to the surface said that his feet and back were full of glass shards. When later asked, what was the most horrifying part of this, Shavarsh replied by saying:
“I knew that I could only save so many lives, I was afraid to make a mistake. It was so dark down there that I could barely see anything. One of my dives, I accidentally grabbed a seat instead of a passenger... I could have saved a life instead. That seat still haunts me in my nightmares.”
After his 30th dive, Shavarsh lost consciousness. This courageous act has cost him dearly; he incurred heavy 2-sided pneumonia and blood contamination from the polluted water. Doctors were unsure if Shavarsh would ever recover. His life was hanging on by a thread while he stayed unconscious for 46 days. He finally recovered, but was never able to compete again. Today's experts agree that no one but Shavarsh could have done what he has done.
As if this wasn't enough for one man... On February 19th, 1985, Shavarsh just happened to be near a burning building, that had people trapped inside. He rushed in and started pulling people out without a second thought. Once again, he was badly hurt (severe burns) and spent a long time in the hospital.
Since 1993, Shavarsh has been living a simple life. He owns and operates a shoe shop in Moscow called “Second Breath”. Our hats off to you Shavarsh Karapetyan for being a true hero!

Never Peel Apples
Why You Should Never Peel Apples ?
The skin packs most of the apple's fiber and vitamins.
Apples can ease breathing problems — but only if you eat the skin.
The skin may reduce the risk cancer.
The skin contains "ursolic acid" , and important compound that can prevent obesity risk.

World's smallest autonomous flapping drone with 3-D vision
Dutch scientists have developed the world's smallest autonomous flapping drone, a dragonfly-like beast with 3-D vision that could revolutionise our experience of everything from pop concerts to farming.
"This is the DelFly Explorer, the world's smallest drone with flapping wings that's able to fly around by itself and avoid obstacles," its proud developer Guido de Croon of the Delft Technical University told AFP.
Weighing just 20 grammes (less than an ounce), around the same as four sheets of printer paper, the robot dragonfly could be used in situations where much heavier quadcopters with spinning blades would be hazardous, such as flying over the audience to film a concert or sport event.
The Explorer looks like a large dragonfly or grasshopper as it flitters about the room, using two tiny low-resolution video cameras—reproducing the 3-D vision of human eyes—and an on-board computer to take in its surroundings and avoid crashing into things.
And like an insect, the drone which has a wingspan of 28 centimetres (11 inches), would feel at home flying around plants.
"It can for instance also be used to fly around and detect ripe fruit in greenhouses," De Croon said, with an eye on the Netherlands' vast indoor fruit-growing business.
"Or imagine, for the first time there could be an autonomous flying fairy in a theme park," he said.

RARE UNDERSEA DISCOVERY COULD EXTEND YOUR LIFE BY 10, 20 OR 30 YEARS
Humans have made incredible health strides and are living longer lives than ever. Many of the maladies that struck down our ancestors have for the most part been completely eliminated – everything from tuberculosis, to polio to malaria.
Today, the biggest killers stem as much from our lifestyles as from microscopic bacteria and viruses. One of the worst of these is heart disease, and specifically high blood pressure. It’s a slow, but efficient killer that robs many people of what should be the last 10, 20 or 30 years of their lives.
Part of the reason that heart disease is so prevalent and intractable is that it often requires massive changes to one’s lifestyle— changes that are not easy to make. Everything from radically altering ones diet to implementing serious exercise routines. And while it’s never too late to start, people often realize the true danger only when it’s too late to make the changes and the damage is done.
Now, however, there may be a scientific breakthrough that could have an impact on high blood pressure comparable to penicillin’s ability treat infections or quinine’s effect on malaria.
Scientists are claiming that they have now isolated unusual ingredients in a rare seaweed discovered by fishermen off the coast of Korea that offer incredible health benefits—including the ability to restore blood pressure to normal levels.
Dr. Haengwoo Lee, a renowned biochemist living near Seattle, Washington conducted a massive 15 year, multimillion dollar clinical study on these two ingredients. The first is Seanol, an extremely rare seaweed extract from Ecklonia Cava that's proven to be 100 times more powerful than any land-based antioxidant. That's because it stays working in your body for 12 hours, compared to land-based antioxidants that work for 30 minutes.
"Its secret is its make-up of special polyphenol antioxidants that are a whopping 40% lipid (fat) soluble," Dr. Lee explains. "Unlike nearly all land-based antioxidants that are water soluble, Seanol's protective compounds can get into things like the fatty tissues of your brain and penetrate all three layers of your cells, including the outside, the oil-based cell membranes, and your DNA."
Indeed, Seanol is so powerful, it's the only FDA-approved Ecklonia Cava marine-algae extract in existence.
The second ingredient is Calamarine, a deep-sea omega-3 discovery that delivers 85% more DHA omega-3s to your heart, brain, joints, and eyes. It's known to combat everything from fatigue and poor memory, to vision problems, joint pain, mood swings and depression.
With that research in mind, Dr. Lee combined Seanol and Calamarine with a high dose of vitamin D to form Marine-D3, the newest supplement in the fight against age-related illnesses and high blood pressure.
According to the CDC, about 1 in 3 U.S. adults has high blood pressure, which increases the risk for heart disease and stroke, the two leading causes of death in the United States. Increasing your omega-3 intake can reduce high blood pressure, and because it's difficult to get enough omega-3s in foods like fish and nuts, many people turn to supplements.
Dr. Lee found that Calamarine delivers some of the greatest concentration of omega-3s known to science, and has been able to formulate it without any fishy burps or aftertaste. Combined with Seanol's ability to reduce body inflammation, as well as help cells get the nutrients they need to thrive, stay healthy and protected, Marine-D3 is able to boost a body's entire well being.
The makers of Marine-D3 are so confident that you'll see fast dramatic results from this product, that if you aren't happy after two full months, simply return the unused portion and they'll buy it back. They'll even give you ten dollars extra just for giving it an honest try! That kind of faith, combined with Dr. Lee's exhaustive research, shows that Marine-D3 really is a one-of-a-kind product.
6 Habits That Do More Harm Than Good
The rules of staying fit seem very easy to follow. Eating well, working out, getting enough sleep and you will be the healthiest person, right? Surprisingly, it is more complicated than that. Often the very choices you make to benefit your health can be the same ones that hurt you in the end. Read the article and find out which unexpected habits can be causing you harm.
Using of hand sanitizer compulsively
If you use the hand sanitizer any time you have contact with the outside world, you should take pause. Unless you are in an especially germ full place like a hospital, soap and water will work just fine. When you are not near a sink, hand sanitizing gels can help, but be sure to always read the label. Recent study has shown that sanitizers containing triclosan might promote bacteria and virus resistance to antibiotic medications. This refers to antibacterial hand soaps as well, which contain triclosan. Instead, choose brands that contain at least 55% alcohol that will kill 98% of bacteria on contact.

Brushing teeth after every meal
Brushing immediately after every meal may seem like a good idea for keeping your teeth healthy, but it is better to hold off. Food can leave acid on your teeth that weakens the enamel and brushing while the enamel is in a weakened state can actually scrub the enamel away. To dislodge any food particles that remains after eating simply rinse your mouth out with water and save the brushing for morning and night. When you do brush, be sure to do it in a circular motion. This will improve the chances of removing harmful bacteria between the gums and teeth. On the other hand brushing back and forth or up and down, can leave behind harmful bacteria, causing gum disease but applying too much pressure can lead to receding gums.

TOP TIPS FOR SECURING YOUR COMPUTER AND MAKING IT RUN FAST!
Computer viruses are weapons of mass destruction when it comes to PC’s. Computer viruses attach themselves to other programs, or replace them altogether by overwriting them so they can reproduce themselves without you being aware of it. If your computer is affected by a virus, a number of irreversible damages are likely to take place. Viruses can very quickly use all of the available memory on your computer, seriously slowing down the system or even stopping it altogether. Viruses can:
- Damage data files
- Completely destroy files and documents
- Make disks unreadable
- Cause damage they weren’t even designed to cause
Many people think that by being careful about which sites they visit, they can avoid viruses and keep their PCs and information safe. Good browsing practices indeed can take you somewhat far when it comes to protecting your PC. By not browsing shady websites, not downloading files from suspicious sources, and never clicking on links from people you don’t know, you’ll definitely put yourself at less risk for viruses. But unfortunately, malware doesn’t spread only through downloading suspicious files and visiting untrusted websites. Your computer can even be infected by visiting a completely trusted website. There are vulnerabilities on the web that we alone can’t protect ourselves from… that’s where anti-viruses come in.
HERE ARE SOME OF THE TOP FEATURES OF THE LEADING ANTI-VIRUS SOFTWARE:
- Real-Time Anti-viruses: Real-time anti-viruses continuously scan and monitor your PC for virus activity. This is the most important thing to consider when comparing anti-virus software.
- Anti-rootkit: Like the name suggests, anti-rootkits protect against malware, which burrows deeply into the operating system registry.
- Anti-Spyware: Spyware and adware are both irritating, and slow down your PC. Some spyware can even steal your data, or your identity. Anti-virus softwares have features to protect against it.
- Manual Virus Scanning: Manual virus scans detect and remove viruses that have secretly infected your PC.
- Virus Removal: How well and efficiently the anti-virus software actually removes a virus can vary from software to software.
- USB Virus Scanning: This measures the effectiveness and ability for the software to automatically scan USB img.ces, such as thumb drives, for viruses.
- Resource Usage: It’s important to find an anti-virus that takes up as little memory as possible.
- Trojan Protection: Trojans are malicious programs that perform actions that haven’t been authorized by the user. Find an anti-virus software that protects against them.
The truth of the matter is, viruses hit, computers get dropped, files become corrupted, and hard drives can fail. If you want to really protect your music, photos, documents and e-mails, its worth it to invest in a back-up program. Local file-and-folder backup software creates copies on local drives or media. Disk imaging software creates a snapshot of your entire drive, and finally, online backup services automate uploading your data to secure off-site storage. You can use any one of these backup software, or a combination of them.
It’s an absolute essential for every PC to have antivirus software to keep threats at bay. Microsoft’s free anti-virus tools are not enough. For the best protection, try BullGuard Antivirus. BullGuard’s core antivirus engine delivers very strong all around results, while causing very minimal impact on system performance at the same time. It’s browsing protection is excellent, highlighting dangerous links in many places, this is a feature worth having. It’s spam filter is also very appealing, especially for those with an inbox always overflowing with junk. BullGuard Antivirus is a solid, reliable product which is easy to use, and very effective.
There’s nothing more precious than your own personal information. Imagine the nightmare of having your Facebook hacked, your personal data stolen, your sentimental photos deleted, every single song you own getting completely wiped out, or your new and flashy computer completely destroyed by a virus that you downloaded accidentally. All of this headache and heartache can be prevented for a very small fee. A good anti virus software only costs about $20 per year and you can easily renew it using PayPal or your credit card. Most anti virus softwares also give discounts for renewing your license, making this cost drop even further in the long run. People are willing to spend endless amounts of money to protect their homes, their cars, and their physical possessions. Protecting your data is equally important, and inexpensive, yet time and time and again people learn this the hard way. Don’t be one of those people, protect your information now before it’s too late.
HOW TO EASILY SECURE YOUR COMPUTER FROM DATA THEFT
The internet is a dangerous place, and yet we spend hours on it. There are so many viruses that can crawl into your computer, whether you are downloading videos, surfing the web, opening a document, or checking your emails. Viruses can be extremely detrimental to your computer because they can have all kinds of effects such as slowing your computer down, data can be stolen, and your hardware can even be completely erased. Therefore it is very important to get a quality anti-virus program that will protect your computer from these harmful effects.
Things to look for in an antivirus are:
1. PERFORMANCE:
The most important in product-selection. Your anti-virus program needs to do far more than block malware that has been flagged as dangerous. It also has to identify other potential threats and neutralize threats that are beginning to act maliciously.
2. FEATURES:
There are a lot of factors that make up an anti-virus product, and you need to make sure that the one you select has the right features for you. These features are:
- Manual Virus Scanning: a manual virus scan can detect and remove viruses that may have infected your PC.
- Anti-Spyware: Spyware can really damage your computer and slow it down, and can even steal your data or identity. A good program will stop that from happening.
- Real-time Antivirus: Monitors and scans continuously for virus activity. This is the top priority to look out for when comparing anti-virus programs.
- Virus Removal: Look to see how well the software actually removes the viruses it detects.
- Resource Usage: You want a program that takes as little CPU and memory as possible while actively protecting your PC.
- USB Virus Scanning: This is the ability and effectiveness of the program to automatically scan a USB/thumb drive for viruses.
- Installation: Your anti-virus program should install quickly and easily, even for the most inexperienced of computer users.
- User Interface: The anti-virus program should be easy to use, with settings that make sense and are well organized.
3. HELP AND SUPPORT:
Once you find an anti-virus software with the features and performance level that you are looking for, you should consider checking the technical support offered with the product. You should make sure that the software offers support both via email and toll-free phone calls, and that they are available around the clock. You also want to make sure that the tech support that is offered is effective, helpful, and and responsible.
Most computers today do come with some sort of anti-virus protection, but it is usually not sufficient and not the best performer. There are also free softwares. But the best ones tend to be the serious ones that cost money. So in order to truly protect your data as well as the quality of your computer, and your identity, it is highly recommended to buy and install the best antivirus software and ensure optimal protection. Optimal protection is key because, without an antivirus software, you could get your bank account hacked into if someone steals your identity and financial information. Imagine getting your facebook account hacked and accidentally downloading a virus that renders your new, expensive computer completely useless! Without anti-malware protection, you can be in danger of losing your entire music and photo collections. You would spend hundreds and thousands on house and health insurance, and compared to that, this protective software only costs $20 a year! The safety of your computer is just as important as the safety of your other possessions, if not more, and that is why it is important for you to get high quality, high performance anti-virus software. We recommend you get VIPRE Anti-Virus 2014, which is the number one software in the market today. While its installation may take longer, it can be done in just four clicks. It also does a pre-installation virus scan and updates virus definitions in the computer. WHAT CELLULITE REALLY IS: THIS WILL SHOCK YOU!
Cellulite has often been termed “the curse of women” because so many suffer from the annoying orange peel skin dimples and fat deposits on their hips, bums and thighs. Unfortunately, too many women also throw thousands and thousands of dollars down the drain on totally ineffective “treatments” and useless products.
“THAT’S BECAUSE CELLULITE IS NOT A FAT PROBLEM, IT’S A SKIN PROBLEM. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH WHAT YOU WEIGH, OR HOW MUCH WEIGHT YOU LOSE”-HOLLYWOOD DERMATOLOGIST HOWARD MURAD, MD, AUTHOR OF THE CELLULITE SOLUTION.
The problem lies in the fact that women don’t fully understand what cellulite really is, and therefore can’t know how to treat it. The endless efforts they spend on weight and fat loss and skin treatments to cure it, are often for nothing. Cellulite is “a ‘made up’ term coined in European salons and spas, during the late 60′s, to describe the dimpled appearance of skin found on the thighs and buttocks of many women… “
Unfortunately, all of the cellulite creams in the world won’t help you remove those pesky, mushy bumps, nor will liposuction, because there is technically no such thing as cellulite!
There is no real difference between cellulite fat, and regular fat. All of the cellulite sponges and creams designed to “dissolve” cellulite and other gimmicky devices are all ripping you off. Cellulite is actually caused by muscular atrophy, a condition that occurs when the layer of muscle becomes weak and undefined, and separates from the skin, making the unattractive fatty deposits visible. However, there is a way to reverse muscular atrophy, and banish pesky cellulite for good!
HERE ARE THE 5 CRITICAL KEYS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT CELLULITE:
1. You CANNOT get rid of cellulite with lotions: Stop using them! It’s that simple. There are dozens of cellulite reduction creams on the market, but they do not work. They may actually be making your cellulite worse. Even the most expensive creams will only have one effect on you…a drained pocket. The dimples caused by cellulite are a superficial result of a problem below the surface of your skin, therefore creams will do nothing.
2. Medi-Spa Treatments do not work, and may be dangerous: FDA reports show that the medi-spa treatments designed to reduce cellulite have actually scarred and injured some women permanently. From body-wrapping to endermologie, these treatments are completely ineffective.
3. Cellulite is NOT genetic, you CAN get rid of it: No matter what you’ve been told, cellulite is not a problem that you’ve inherited from your parents, and you do not have to be stuck with it forever. Believing these falsehoods will just prevent you from taking the steps you need to, to reduce your cellulite.
4. You can get rid of cellulite no matter how old you are: Cellulite is an issue related to your muscles, therefore no matter when you notice it or at what age, you can fix it! Simple movements which target the muscles in the cellulite areas will get rid of the cellulite for good. The movements are not vigorous or overly strenuous, and can be performed by women of all fitness levels.
5. The ONLY way to get rid of cellulite is with specifically targeted lower-body movements: The movements are unique, and directly target the muscles in the cellulite areas. They focus on lifting, toning and shaping the muscle layers, pushing them towards the skin and getting rid of the dimpled appearance. Unfortunately, these are not movements that you’ll be able to learn at your nearest gym. And remember, cellulite does NOT have to do with weight loss. Even the skinniest of girls can suffer from cellulite.
There is a huge difference between regular workout methods, and workouts that will bust your cellulite for good. Joey Atlas, who has two degrees in exercise physiology and has worked for 23 years with women in over 193 countries to reduce cellulite, has developed the perfect cellulite busting program, entitled The Truth About Cellulite. The program is structured around three principles:
- Why you have cellulite and what it is
- What makes cellulite worse
- The only proven way to get rid of it

And with Joey Atlas’ program you’ll learn to target every single one of them, with simple, light movements that you can complete from the comfort of your own home.
