do we itch? Like pain and heat, itching sensations are transmitted by a
class of nerve cells known as TRPV1-expressing neurons. If you engineer
a mouse without these neurons, the mouse feels no pain, no heat and no
itching. Research published last month suggests that there are a
specific subset of TRPV1-expressing neurons that are exclusively
responsible for itching. They produce a molecule called
neuropeptide natriuretic polypeptide b (Nppb). All sensations require a

Now, your average Brit had as much knowledge of Parliament then as we do of day-to-day life in the 1750s, so this might need a little unpacking. You see, it’s all to do with calendars—the way we tabulate time—and how Britain fell out of sync with the world, and felt the need to catch back up. And what’s more, it goes back 170 years prior to 1752.
In 1582, Pope Gregory XIII was 10 years into his reign as leader of the Catholic church. He had a problem with Easter. The Julian calendar that the church (and large swaths of the world) used at the time measured a year as 365 days and 6 hours long.
That’s close, but not quite right. The average length of a year is 365 days, 5 hours and 49 minutes. The 11 minutes difference might not seem like all that much, but compounded over 1300 years, it begins to add up. So on February 24, 1582, Pope Gregory XIII released a papal bull—a declaration from the leader of the Catholic church—decreeing that those under the dominionship of his church would have to skip some days. Spain, large parts of Italy (which was not yet unified), the Netherlands, France, Portugal, Luxembourg, and Poland and Lithuania (who were at the time tied under a commonwealth) all adopted Gregory’s bull that year.
Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Hungary, and Prussia all followed in the next 50 years, so that large parts of Europe were now ticking off days on their shiny new Gregorian calendars.

Our closest galactic neighbor, Andromeda, is approximately 2.5 million light years away and is home to the largest number of black holes discovered outside of our galaxy. Researchers have utilized Chandra data from the last thirteen years to locate and identify twenty-six new black hole candidates. These candidates are examples of stellar-mass black holes and are small on the black hole growth chart, but possess a mass of between 5-10 times the mass of our Sun.
Seven of these newly discovered black holes are located only 1,000 light-years from Andromeda’s galactic center. One possible explanation for this difference is that Andromeda has a larger stellar bulge than the Milky Way making conditions favorable for more black holes to form. Eight of the nine black holes previously identified are hanging around the galactic center’s globular clusters. These clusters are comprised of very old stars clumped together in a spherical pattern around the galaxy’s central region. Andromeda is unique in the fact that astronomers have not yet observed black holes around the Milky Way’s globular clusters.

A man carried his mother around in a baby sling at the Chi Mei Medical Centre in Taiwan and the scene was snapped by an an undergraduate. His upload sparked an online frenzy, over the past several days, the hottest topic discussed online was “Who is he?”, It was finally revealed that he is 62-year-old Ding Zhu Ji, a former officer with The Investigation Bureau of the Ministry of Justice based in Tainan.
Those who knew him said that Ding has always been a filial son, rejecting a promotion as he didn’t want to move to another district so that he could take care of his mom.
Ding even applied for early retirement to take care of his mother in 2007, a year after his father died.
One netizen comments: ” His act let us rediscover the bright and beautiful side in human nature, before this we already read many sad news that son kills mother, the picture convinces me of filial son still in the world.”
